Exploring Chicago on a work trip has its perks, especially in June! The Windy City offers not only vibrant urban life but also serene moments with nature. Amidst busy meetings, I found time to stop and smell the roses and watch the bees buzzing around. It’s amazing how these little moments of tranquility can recharge you. Remember, no matter how busy life gets, there’s always a good reason to pause and appreciate the natural world around us. #Chicago #NatureLovers #Bees #RechargeInNature #windycitybees #31daysofbees #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives.
Cracked open a hive today and whoa, mama! 15 queen cells - that’s way more than usual. Over half were already chewed open, a sign the worker bees knew things were getting crowded!
Managed to find and cage 5 fierce queens. One even hatched right in front of me! Just as I thought I’d seen it all, another queen emerged from the side, ready for battle! ⚔️
Luckily, peace prevailed today. Both queens are safe and sound in their own happy hives, ready to rule their own kingdoms. #beekeepingadventures #queenbeedrama #savethequeens #pollinators🐝
Look who's loving this Texas sunshine! The elderberry bushes are bursting with beautiful white flowers right now, and guess who else is a big fan? The bees! These delicate blooms are a major source of nectar for our busy bee friends. Elderberry not only provides a vital food source for pollinators, but it's also a beautiful addition to the spring landscape. #beesofinstagram #beekeeping #beesmart #nature #honeybees #fortheloveofbees #beesofinstagram #beekeeping #bees #beesarebeautiful #sustainability #insects #accidentalbeekeeper #beesmart #texasbees #savethebees #beehives #NatureHarmony #BeeFriendly
Holly trees are blooming in Dallas, marking the start of honey season! These white blossoms signal our bees are busy at work, filling up our hives with sweet honey.
If you spot these flowers on your holly bushes, don’t worry about bee swarms. The bees are simply feasting and will move on once the bloom is over. Let’s appreciate these hardworking pollinators—they’re key to our delicious honey harvest. 🍯. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives.
Caught a magical moment in the garden today 🐝 Amidst the quiet of the morning, with the garden teeming with life yet curiously still, one diligent bee caught my eye. She was busy at work on the comfrey plant, a known gem for its medicinal properties. It was fascinating to watch her meticulously collect pollen, pack it away in her pollen sacks, and at times, balance herself on just one leg! It makes me wonder, do these wise creatures know about the healing powers of the plants they visit? Out of all the flowers in my yard, she chose the comfrey. A beautiful reminder of the intricate connections in nature and perhaps, the hidden wisdom of bees. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
A healthy, fertile queen bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day, which is more than her own body weight in eggs. This process takes place almost constantly during peak season. For example, during the hive’s build-up period, which is usually in spring, a queen can lay 5–6 eggs per minute, or up to 2,000 eggs per day. During the honey production season, she lays about 1,000–1,500 eggs per day #queenbee

🐝 Round two of our bee-saving adventures and the magic of nature doesn’t cease to amaze! This time, our mission was simple yet profound: rescuing our second swarm of the season. The queen bee, the heart of the swarm, led the way, and with a gentle clip and scoop, we ensured her subjects followed into their new temporary castle, a nuc box.
Catching a swarm can sometimes be as simple as this - understanding the bees, knowing how to safely guide them, and ensuring their journey to a new home begins without a hitch. It’s moments like these that remind us of the delicate balance of our ecosystem and the role each creature plays.
For anyone witnessing the mesmerizing sight of a bee swarm, remember, it’s a sign of a healthy, thriving bee population. There’s no need for alarm or pesticides. Instead, reach out to your local beekeepers who can safely relocate these precious pollinators.
By safeguarding one swarm at a time, we’re contributing to a future where bees continue to pollinate our crops, beautify our gardens, and maintain the balance of our natural world. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehiveseason18
Spring has sprung, and with it, the awe-inspiring dance of nature continues! Today, we’re up close and personal with one of spring’s most essential rituals: bee swarming. 🐝
Swarming is a natural process for bees, a way for their colonies to expand and thrive. But it often gets misunderstood. These bees are not aggressive; they’re simply in search of a new home, carrying nothing but their queen and hopes for a secure future.
In this video, watch as I gently guide a swarm from a tree into a nuc box, a safe haven for these precious pollinators. This is more than a task; it’s a commitment to preserving and respecting our buzzing friends who play such a crucial role in our ecosystem.
Remember, if you encounter a bee swarm, don’t panic and definitely don’t reach for pesticides. Call a local beekeeper. Together, we can ensure they find a new home safely, away from harm’s way and without the need for pest control interventions.
Let’s embrace the beauty of spring by safeguarding its tiniest, yet immensely significant, inhabitants. Here’s to a season of growth, renewal, and coexistence. 🐝 #BeeSwarmSeason #SaveTheBees #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives

Swipe left to peek into our unique backyard apiary, safely tucked behind a wrought iron fence, where our bees thrive in harmony with our family life. 🏡💕
Strategically pointing our hives towards the trees encourages our bees to take their flights up and away, blending seamlessly into their quest for nectar and pollen. This thoughtful setup allows us to share our yard with these essential pollinators without crossing paths too often. 🌳🍃
Surprisingly, our daily strolls through the garden remain peaceful and uninterrupted, thanks to the bees' natural inclination to fly high until reaching their floral destinations. It's a perfect balance of human and bee coexistence, right in our backyard. 🌸🐝
Experience the beauty and ingenuity of living in sync with nature. It's a sweet, buzzing world out there, and we're so proud to be a part of it.

Spring 2024 is upon us here in North Texas, and that means it’s a pivotal time for us beekeepers: it’s comb and drone time! 🐝 As we bid adieu to winter, there’s an essential task at hand: the removal of sugar block shims from our hives.
Here’s a bit of bee wisdom: our bees are precise architects. They’ll construct excess comb in any space larger than 3/8 inch. Conversely, spaces less than 1/4 inch will be meticulously filled with propolis. This critical range, known as “B space,” if not managed, can lead to a sticky 🍯 situation requiring a hefty cleanup. 🛠
The presence of drones is our signal; the flow is near, heralding the queen’s season. This signifies that the dynamic lifecycle of the hive is gearing up for its most productive period.
So, to my fellow North Texas beekeepers, Here’s to a prosperous spring 2024, filled with the fruits of our labor and the buzzing of healthy hives! #NorthTexasBeekeeping #Spring2024 #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives.

This tailored message not only informs but also celebrates the start of the spring season in North Texas, providing a clear and engaging call-to-action for local beekeepers.
“Hey there, Insta fam! Guess what? Spring has officially sprung and it’s like nature’s throwing the biggest comeback party for our tiny, buzzy friends - the bees! But here’s the tea: those tall, leafy VIPs we call trees? They’re the real MVPs here. 🌳
Why, you ask? Well, when everything else is still snoozing from the winter chill, trees are the first to wake up, stretch out their branches, and throw on their bloom-best, bursting with pollen and nectar. 🌸They’re like, ‘Hey bees, first dibs on this sweet, sweet spring buffet!’ 🍯
And our bee buddies? They’re over the moon! After months of living off their honey stash, imagine their excitement finding this early bird special of nectar and pollen. 🐝It’s critical stuff because it kickstarts their season, giving them the energy boost needed to get the hive buzzing again.
So, next time you’re out enjoying that glorious spring air, remember to send a little thank you to the trees. They’re not just standing around looking pretty; they’re hosting the bee’s first feast of the season! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives.

🌸 Meet the adorable Texas Longhorn Bee! 🐝✨
With their long antennae, these bees are the definition of “long-horned” cuteness! They’re superstar pollinators, working wonders on sunflowers, melons, squash, and garden flowers. Busy bees, indeed! 🌻🍉🌺
Nesting in the ground, these bees create cozy homes with wax-like material, each holding an egg and a pollen ball. Talk about a snug setup! 🏡🐝
Spotting female Longhorn Bees is a breeze when they’re pollinating flowers, while the males take relaxation seriously by hanging from plant stems. You might even catch a group of them enjoying a morning snooze together. Sweet dreams, little bees! 💤💚
These bees rock the Lower Rio Grande Valley in summer and fall, buzzing around different flowers. From the mournful longhorned-bee to the Tepanec longhorned bee, they’re pollination pros. And let’s not forget the coreopsis long-horned bee, who’s head over heels for aster-family flowers! 🌼🌺🌿
With their furry heads and bodies, Melissodes bees are simply huggable. Females have bushy pollen-collecting hairs, while males sport long antennae and charming pale markings on their faces. And their mesmerizing green or blue eyes? Bee-utiful! 🌸💚💙
Texas is a haven for these bees, hosting a variety of species in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. It’s a bee wonderland! 🌼🐝✨

🌼🐝 Let’s get buzzing with some bumblebee fun! 🌼🐝
Meet the American bumblebee, the cutest little pollen-packing champs you’ll ever see! They’ve got some serious leg day going on, packing pollen into their back legs like true fitness enthusiasts. 🏋️♀️💪
Unlike honeybees with their massive honey-making operations, bumblebees keep it small and cozy. They have tiny colonies where only the queen overwinters, forming close-knit groups. 🐝❤️
While they may not be rolling in the honey money like their honeybee cousins, these adorable buzzers play a vital role in pollination and keeping our ecosystems thriving. They’re the unsung heroes with leggy gains and a passion for the flower power! 🌸🌼
Let’s celebrate the American bumblebee and appreciate their hard work in nature’s gym. They may not make honey, but they’re the bees’ knees in pollination business! 🌼💛🐝

🌼🐝 Let’s give a shout-out to native bees, like the Two-spotted Longhorn bee, Melissodes bimaculatus, and show them some extra love! 💛🐝
Native bees face unique challenges in their survival. They collect nectar and pollen for themselves, unlike honeybees who make heaps of honey in their hives. While honeybees get beekeeper care, our native bees rely on people who plan bee-friendly gardens. 🌿🏡 Let’s appreciate their hard work and make sure they have plenty of nectar sources to thrive! 🍯💛🐝
To help them flourish, let’s avoid harmful pesticides and insecticides. These chemicals disrupt their natural behavior and harm our buzzing buddies. 🚫🌺
By creating safe havens with nectar-rich flowers for native bees, we’re not only helping them but also nurturing a healthier ecosystem for all. Together, we can make a big difference in the lives of these precious pollinators. 🌍❤️

🌻💛 Did you know that sunflowers are not only a beautiful addition to our gardens but also a vital source of protein for our buzzing friends, the bees? 🐝🌼 Bees collect pollen from sunflowers and store it in their specialized pollen pouches, known as corbiculae, located on their hind legs. 🦵🌸
These vibrant flowers offer a rich and nutritious protein source that helps sustain bee colonies throughout the year. As bees visit sunflowers to collect pollen, they inadvertently transfer pollen between flowers, aiding in their pollination. 🌺🐝
By cultivating sunflowers in our gardens or supporting farmers who grow them, we play a role in providing bees with the sustenance they need to thrive. Not only are we witnessing the beauty of nature, but we’re also contributing to the preservation of these incredible pollinators. 🌻💪
So next time you come across a field of sunflowers or plant one in your garden, take a moment to appreciate the important relationship between these stunning blooms and our buzzing friends. Let’s continue to protect and support the precious work of bees! 🙌🌼🐝

🐝💛 The Wonders of Bee Recycling: Wax Edition! 🌼🏗️
Did you know that bees are not just amazing pollinators, but also incredible recyclers? 🌸🌿 Today, let’s dive into the fascinating world of bees and their recycling efforts, especially when it comes to leftover wax. 🐝🔁
Bees are master architects, creating intricate honeycombs that serve as their homes and storage for delicious honey. 🏡🍯 But here’s the incredible part: they recycle their wax! 🌟✨
When bees come across abandoned or excess wax outside their hive, they waste no time in gathering it up. Just like they collect pollen in their pollen pouches, they carefully pack any found wax into their pouches and take it back to their hive. 🌼🐝
Back at the hive, these resourceful little creatures put their precious wax to use. They chew it to soften and transform it into fresh, new wax cells, which are then used to store honey and raise their young. 🐝🏗️💛 It’s a remarkable cycle of sustainability and efficiency!
Let’s celebrate the incredible recycling efforts of our buzzing friends and marvel at their ingenuity. 🙌💚 By creating a sustainable habitat for bees and supporting their conservation, we can ensure they have the resources they need to continue their vital work. 🌍🐝

🐝 Hey, hey, hey, my fellow bee enthusiasts! I hope you’re all buzzing with excitement for this beekeeping update! 🍯
As an urban beekeeper, it’s important to keep the genetics of my apiary fresh and up-to-date, which is why I’m so excited to share with you all that I added three new queens to my hive this weekend! These queens are from a well-known Texas Queen rearer Earnie Welsh’s queen rearing program, and I have high hopes for their success in my hive.
This spring during honey flow, I released all of the new queens into the hive, and it was amazing to see how quickly they were accepted and started laying eggs. The bees were working together like a well-oiled machine, and it was truly a sight to see.
I can’t wait to see how these new queens and their hive perform in the coming months, and I’ll be sure to keep you all updated on their progress. Thanks for following along on my beekeeping journey! 🐝💛🍯 #beekeeping #urbanbeekeeping #queenbee #hive #beehive #welshbeekeeping #honeybee #beelover #naturelovers #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
🐝 Hey there, Instagram fam! I am so excited to share with you all about my latest beekeeping adventure! 🍯
This season, I decided to rear my own queen bee from a queen cell, and let me tell you, it was an incredible experience. She is now mated and she is a truly stunning queen - big, beautiful, and laying well.
I recently decided to mark her with magenta, since this year’s queens are red, but honestly, I just think it’s easier to see! 😅 When I put her back into the hive, I couldn’t help but notice that her ladies in waiting were inspecting and trying to clean off this new pink dot on their beloved queen.
It’s amazing to see how the hive functions as a team, always working together to ensure the survival of their queen and the hive. I can’t wait to see what this queen and her hive accomplish this season. Stay tuned for more updates on my urban backyard beekeeping journey! 🐝💛🍯 #beekeeping #queenbee #hive #beehive #magenta #honeybee #beelover #naturelovers #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Bumble sized Bluebonnets, formally known as Lupines. This one is probably 10x the size of the standard Texas bluebonnets. I love the native bees as much as my honey bees. Bumbles live in a colony but only the queen over winters so they store honey but no where near as much as the honey bee. North Texas. Red clovers are in full bloom in North Texas. This white eyed drone is blind. Drones (make honey bees) are haploid because they only have one set of chromosomes. A drone is unique and different from the two types of female bees (workers and queen bees) in that it is developed from an unfertilized egg. As a result, a drone bee has only one set of chromosomes – effectively only one parent. Therefore, with only one set of chromosomes, recessive genes can be expressed more readily without being overridden by a corresponding dominant gene. Unlike the female worker bee, drones do not have stingers. They do not gather nectar nor pollen and are unable to feed without assistance from worker bees. A drone’s only role is to mate with a maiden queen in nuptial flight.
These white-eyed drones appear perfectly normal; they move around the hive like other bees, eat honey, relax, and live an apparently normal drone bees’ life. Don’t be fooled, however. Their life is not normal. For them, there will never be any mating; no flights, no lying to drone congregation areas, nor looking for queens. These drones are more or less stuck inside the hive; because, due to their white eyes, they are blind. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Worker bees are the Heart, Soul, and Brains of the hive. Worker bees are all female and they do all the work and make all the decisions, the only thing they don’t do is lay eggs which is the sole job of the 1 queen bee, and create sperm, which is the sole job of the male bees. But they do tell the Queen when to lay, and what to lay (boys vs girls) based on what the hive needs. If you see a bee out about in the world, she’s a FEMALE worker bee. The boys stick to the hive to eat and sleep and skies looking for queens to mate with. Only female worker bees collect nectar and pollen. The hive will start making babies as soon as pollen is available in earliest spring, we hate pollen, but bees need it to make baybees :)). #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives #bee
Drones. The boy bees. The bees most humans will never see. What a life they have… Mate OR die but also, Mate AND die. Their only job is to mate with queens…. But what does it mean when you have just ONE job?? Drones don’t have stingers. Instead, they have penises. The drone bee is so desperate to inseminate the queen that he inverts his entire reproductive system from inside his body to outside his body when mating. This force helps push the semen into the queen. As a result, a portion of the drone bee’s abdomen is ripped away from itself as it falls away from the queen bee. The drone falls to the ground and bleeds to death, similarly to how a worker bee who used her stinger dies. Then, when the weather turns cold, any drones who haven’t mated a queen are thrown out of the hive by the worker bees because they can’t spare the resources over the winter to feed the drones. What a life eh. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
A Queen Bee is Born!! She looks a lot like the others when she’s first born and still virgin, because her spermatheca is not yet full, which is what makes her so much bigger. The hive decides when it’s time for a new queen, and it’s up to them to create her. Worker bees (who are always female) feed all bees “Royal jelly” for the first three days, but queen bees continue to get it every single day. Whereas they switch to feed female workers “bee bread” which is a mix of pollen (protein) and nectar and honey (carbs). This delta in higher nourishment is what allows her to develop into a queen. Royal jelly is amazing, it is a milky looking substance produced in the head glands of ‘nurse’ bees. Royal jelly is made up of proteins, simple sugars, small quantities of Vitamin C and various trace minerals and enzymes. This magic substance enables an epigenetic modification of DNA known as CpG methylation, which results in a queen. This magic not only allows her to gain advanced reproductive capabilities, it also makes her live significantly longer. Worker bees live between five and seven weeks, while queen bees can live for four to five years! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives #bee
Spring is coming!!! North Texas. Sure fire sign spring (or “the flow” is coming) for beekeepers is when they colony starts to raise “Drones” aka boy bees. Most people will NEVER see a boy bee in their life because they do not “work” they have one job and that is to mate queens, and that happens in the air above human vision. The boy bee is in the last frame, he’s got huge eyes and his boy is much bigger than the females. Bees also start building new comb as soon as excess nectar is avalible, this WHITE new comb is a sign of freshly built comb, albeit anot aligned with the beekeepers desires, this is MY fault. I left too much room and gave them poorly waxed frames to be gone with, they built it exactly how they wanted!! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
The queen bee has one job, to lay eggs that make new baby bees. However, this queen here is going above and beyond her normal R&R by working on a queen cup, rare sighting, and all the literature I can find says she doesn’t do this type of work. But hey what do we really know about bees anyhow? Sometimes when you want something done right you just Gotta do it yourself. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Early spring (wild west Texas) bees busting at the seems after over wintering, they needed a hive upgrade this weekend. Queen was spotted, empty comb for her to lay in was added, all honey was moved above the queen excluder, they still had a full deep full of honey, added a super of comb to draw out. Warm enough weather this week. This is gonna be a great 2023 season!! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
I need to tell a sad story this time. This is the opposite of saving the bees…. And I almost didn’t share it, but it’s the real part of keeping bees, they don’t all make it. And it’s heartbreaking to loose them. Such a huge successful beautiful hive, fine on Sunday, completely destroyed by the following week. Pesticide poisoning highly suspected, tongues out, fast deaths blocked the entry and those not poisoned could not get out and overheated, tried to go up to get out. Test samples we collected to confirm source at Cornell, but price was $90 to test, so we will leave it to observation confirmation. This is part of bee keeping, especially in the urban domain of weed and bug killers being sprayed as the norm. Beekeepers live for the Springtime!! Spring preparing are fully underway at D’s bees. 1. Upgrades to the bee yard. 2. Watching bees. 3. Feeding bees and giving an early boost to hives building baby bees. 4. Waxing frames. 5. Building honey supers because one must not run out of super when “the flow” starts. 6. And mulching under the hives while@temperatures are still below 35 and bees are sleeping. Spring is coming!!! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Y’all it’s pollen season in Texas and I know when most Texans see a “pollen alert” most think “ahhhh chooo”. But when I see a pollen alert, I think “woowee baby bees”. Bees use pollen as a protein source to rear baby bees, the more bees born in February the more honey we will gather in the spring!!! See Texans, pollen is a good thang!! Wooo-weee. Baby bees!!!! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Bees are tucked away in their hives till it warms. Once the temperature drops below 50 degrees, honey bees keep the inside of their hive a warm 97 degrees in order to keep the colony alive. Bees use the stored honey to keep warm, this is why bee keepers must always be careful not to take too much when harvesting. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Quick peek in the Wild West Texas bee hive to confirm the girls are doing good in December. Beekeepers loose 40% of hives on average every year. Having a colony make it thru winter is what beekeepers pray for! #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
Worker bees do not leave the hive until they are about three weeks old. Until then, they must rely on older bees to bring them nectar to eat. When bees "kiss," they are actually passing nectar to other bees. When a mature worker bee collects nectar from a flower, she stores it in her stomach until she gets back to the hive. As the nectar sits in her stomach, water is removed from it, which makes it more condensed and easier to share. When she gets back to the hive, she will find another bee who will take the nectar. Then, the mature honeybee will form drops of nectar on the end of her tongue for the other bee to lick off. Each bee that holds nectar in her stomach pulls more water from it and, eventually, the nectar becomes thick and turns into honey. Honeybees will then store it in the cells of the honeycomb where it dries up even more.
So, if anyone asks, you can tell them that honey is made from bee kisses! #scienceworld https://www.scienceworld.ca/stories/our-honeybees-are-sweet-each-other/. #bees #beekeeping #accidentalbeekeeper #nature #texas #texasbees #sustainability #beesarebeautiful #honeybees #insects #beesofinstagram #fortheloveofbees #beesmart #savethebees #honeycombs #beehives
